Up Close and Personal Pit Bull

Up Close and Personal was our theme for this project. My main ideas for this project were to do and upclose picture of a dog, an up close picture of flowers with an angle from the bottom up, and a picture of a balloon from the bottom up. I chose to do the picture of the dog because i enjoy drawing animals more than plants and inanimate objects, and i thought it would be more intereasting to look at.
How i demonstrated enphasis in my work was by bringing out the darker parts and creases of the bandana, to make it really look as if it was folded. Also i darkened up The eyes alot to make them stand out and the outline of the dog goes from dark to gradually lighter so it stands out.
I was torn between a couple different mediums, the colored pencil, the colored pencil with a water color wash in the background, just straight up water color, and oil pastels. I chose to use the colored pencils only because i tried several different practices with the water color and none of them worked out, and the oil pastel was to messy and i didnt want the different colors to all blend together.I ended up with the colored pencil and it really help to inhance my piece by being able to go from very dark to very light easier so i could make certain parts of the picture stand out.
We encourage risk taking in art. Risk taking can be as simple as trying a new technique or learning about a new medium to as complex as trying something totally new.
I took some risks with this project such as drawing something that looks more realistic because im more comfortable with cartoon like drawings than the actual thing. Also i tried mixing several different colors and that was a risk because i didnt know how they would look together.
Out of the five characteristics of art, i think the one that i included the most in my art would be technique because of the ways that i used the colored pencil.
